Go-To Oats Recipe:
I don’t know about you, but I can be super lazy when it comes to taking the time to make myself breakfast. Even though it’s always been touted ‘the most important meal of the day’, I almost always skip it…oops. This month though, I’ve really been trying. So here is a super basic, but nutrient dense breakfast you can whip up in under 10 minutes.
Oats. We all know them, but do we all love them? Here is one my favorite ways to make oats as of late. They’re simple, affordable, and packed with all the necessary ingredients to keep you feeling full, satiated, and ready to conquer your day with loads of energy. Feel free to have fun with it, that’s what cooking is all about, right? If you’re feeling creative, swap out the dates for maple syrup. Or instead of using apples, maybe use a fruit that’s in season (or already in your fridge, like peaches or blueberries. However you make it, I hope you love it. You’re a breakfast rockstar. xo Hannah
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup oats
- 2 dates, pitted
- 1/2 apple, diced
- 2 Tbsp chia seeds
- dash of cinnamon
Method: Add water, dates, diced apples, and cinnamon to small sauce pan, bring to boil. Once boiling, put oats in and let simmer until most of the water has evaporated, stirring occasionally. Add chia seeds, take off heat, and cover. Leave covered for 3-5 mins. Enjoy with fresh sliced apple, cinnamon, granola, drizzle of almond butter (optional).
